Ru began playing drums at the age of 14 and attended Aberdeen City Music School, where he also studied percussion and piano. In his time there he performed with a number of national orchestras, ensembles and bands. At 18 he went onto study his craft at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford, where he was taught by some of the country’s top session musicians, such as Mike Sturgis and Pete Riley. Ru has worked with a wide range of artist throughout his career he has toured the UK, Europe and Australia extensively providing solid foundation for a varied line-up of ensembles. As a busy gigging musician he currently plays for “The Honey Moons” – one of the most in demand wedding/function bands in Scotland, produces a live DJ “vs” Drummer show and works with a number of difference acts as a session musician.
Ru has over 8 years experience as a music tutor he runs regular performance workshops as well as delivering master classes in advanced drumming techniques. Ru’s students have achieved excellent results in their graded exams and a number having went on to further their studies at such establishments as the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and Royal Academy of Music.
Jack Fawcett started playing percussion at the age of 15 after being awarded a place at Aberdeen City Music School. During this time he performed in the National Youth Orchestras of Great Britain and Scotland. At 17 Jack was awarded a scholarship from the Dewar Awards to Study at the Royal College of Music in London where he won the Wolfson Instrument Foundation Award. Jack has since worked with a wide range of artists and productions including, Disney’s the Lion King Musical UK/Switzerland Tour, Deep Purple, Four time Grammy Award winning Ladysmith Black Mambazo, The London Philharmonia Orchestra, The London Contemporary Orchestra, Glen Hughes (Black Sabbath) and Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden) As a session musician Jack has worked on recordings at Abbey Road Studios with The Australian Pink Floyd and Rick Wakeman, 2011 Lexus TV Commercial with Kylie Minogue, The 2014 Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony in Glasgow, The 2015 Rugby World Cup Final and The Chris Evans Show.
As an educator, Jack has studied Professional Teaching and Outreach at the Royal College of Music, With over 6 years teaching experience Jack currently teaches percussion at Sistema Scotland in Stirling and has coached ensembles including Grampian Youth Orchestra, Aberdeen International Youth Festival and Polka theatre in London (Musical Director) Jack has a solid track record of students achieving well in graded examinations and being awarded places at music conservatoires including Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.
